Juveniles opened in March 1987. From the outset we specialised in selling wines from off the beaten track. We tried (and continue to this day !) to promote Sherry from Andalucia in Spain - some of the most underrated wines in the world. We have always been great fans of the wines from the Rhone Valley, the Beaujolais, Provence and the Languedoc, as well as taking a deep interest in foreign wines: Italy, Spain, Australia, South America, and California. We continue to spend lots of time sourcing wines from different places, paying particular attention to finding wines that are great value and that will match the food we produce.

Food was always very unfussy, with the ambition of providing simple tasty food, using top quality products. We were amongst the first Parisians to buy English cheeses from Neal’s Yard in London - great with Sherries and Port!

Today, an incredible thirty years on, we have come a long way. Most importantly, since January 2014, I have been joined by my daughter Margaux and her husband Romain Roudeau, who have taken on the day-to-day management of the bistro. Margaux began helping me out in the bar on Saturday mornings when she was about four or five years old and has often filled in over the years and so has a complete understanding of the philosophy of Juveniles. Romain, took over the kitchen and has brought a totally new identity to the food, sourcing produce directly from local farms and top suppliers. It is still an unfussy style, but Romain’s food is always seasonal, refreshing and really delicious. With his previous experiences from cooking in well-known bistros around Paris, Romain has added his own personal touches, making it all much more exciting and sophisticated than it was in the past.

Just as it was time for change in many ways, we shall continue to be seeking to bring you new wines and new dishes, and maintain the high standards that brought us here. We look forward to having the pleasure of seeing you soon at Juveniles.”

Tuesday Through Saturdays

The kitchen is open between Noon and 2:30pm for Lunch, and again, between 7 and 10:30pm for Dinner. Give or take a few minutes.
